Coconut fibre

The origin of the coconut fibre:

The coconut fibre, also called Coir, is a natural vegetable fibre that wraps and protect the coconut. This fibre represents 2/3 of the coconut envelop. It is usually used in the industry for several uses such as the rigging manufacture, seat back cushion, bedding, soundproofing, brush and broom manufacturing but also as substrates for plants and vegetables in horticulture.

The coconut fibre substrate is an entirely neutral organic substrate that we can find in several forms: bags, crushed, slab, COGR, ... It has an impressive drainage power but which requires regular and controlled watering (pH and EC). The coconut fibre is an inert substrate. It means that it contains no food, so it is important to choose the good range of fertilisers intended for this type of substrate.

The coconut permits the rooting system to develop better according to the earth. The growth is more than vigorous. The coconut fibre contains natural trichodermas (fungi) that favour the root development, increase the plant resistance by stimulating the microbial life.

For this substrate, it is strongly recommended to maintain a pH between 5.5 and 6.5.
